a year agoI finally got to try some of, if not the best carnitas in existence!!! I’ve been meaning to make my way over to Carnitas Tierra Caliente for quite sometime now. As soon as I arrived, I realized I was the only white person out of roughly 30-40 people. I just knew I was where I needed to be and that the food was about to he hittin. My assumption was correct haha. Everything was muy delicioso. I ordered a pound of carnitas and a pineapple agua fresca. Before my food arrived, the waitress brought out 2 different types of salsa, some pico, and some pickled onions. At least I think they were pickled. Shortly after came my food. I just knew it was about to be good before I even took a bite. I grabbed 1 of the handmade tortillas and scooped up some carnitas with it. I added a bit of the not so spicy salsa, some onions, and a squeeze of lime. I can only imagine the face I made after taking that first bite. Pure heaven on a tortilla. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy and the flavor was second to none. I almost forgot the drink. The pineapple agua fresca was so refreshing and not overly sweet by any means. It really hit the spot. I can’t recommend the amazing food that Juan R Villanueva is making enough. Y’all really need to make your way over there soon. They’re only open on SATURDAY!!! 8am-3pm. I recommend getting there early, as they do sell out. I showed up before 11 and the place was packed.
